FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Local organization, Fairbanks Queer Collective (FQC), has recently released a complete list of free, family-friendly Pride events for Interior Alaska.

Coming this weekend on Saturday, June 10, FQC will host their third annual “Gender Euphoria Party” at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Wood Center Ballroom from 6 pm to 10 pm. There, attendees will have the opportunity to shop for free clothing and participate in a fashion show, followed by dancing and mingling with other folks in attendance. Prizes will be awarded for five fashion categories with the grand prize being an Apple watch donated by GCI.

FQC co-founders, Mo Dart and Rinam Kowalski, explained that although June is typically known as Pride Month, they wish to expand FQC beyond the month of June. Looking ahead, a goal of theirs is to one day open an all inclusive community center with various resources available for anyone in the community.

About the events and FQC as a whole, Dart says, “We’re going to be out playing games, having fun. There’s spaces for parents to come get information. There’s spaces to come get clothes. There’s spaces to come get food. It’s ‘come meet your needs, and come be safe and have fun’.”

Kowalski added, “It also opens up the door for people who want to get involved, as well, which is the big thing. Fairbanks Queer Collective is open to anyone who wants to be involved. We’re completely open. That was like an intention when we founded Fairbanks Queer Collective.”
