The Special Olympic World Summer Games released the Alaskan resident scores
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The 2023 Special Olympics World Summer Games are taking place in Berlin this month, and Alaskan residents can be counted among the competitors.
On Wednesday, June 21 the results for the Alaskan participants were officially released.
Two athletes competing in the games not only represented Alaska, but also the United States.
Bobby Hill, a special Olympics athlete from Eagle River, Alaska competed in the bench press, squat, deadlift, and combination in the final. He placed 1st in bench, 2nd in squat, 2nd in deadlift and 2nd in the combination final competition. Hill is currently on his way back to Eagle River.
Meanwhile Gretchen Winter, an athlete from Palmer, Alaska competed in the 1500-meter final, placing 4th. Gretchen’s next competition was the 4x100 relay on Saturday, June 24.
The games ended on Sunday, June 25 and were aired on ESPN and ESPN+.
