Man arrested for robbery, terroristic threatening in Fairbanks
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - At approximately 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 29, Fairbanks police responded to reports of a robbery taking place at Global Credit Union located at 1261 Airport Road.
Police immediately responded to the credit union and set up a perimeter. Witnesses said that a few moments before the officers arrived, the suspect threw a weapon across the floor of the credit union and then a customer threw it outside onto the sidewalk. Officers then entered the building and took 37-year-old Anthony Ray Joseph into custody.
Witness statements revealed the suspect had allegedly walked up to the counter and demanded $50,000. He then pulled out a weapon which turned out to be a replica of a MP5 submachine gun, combined with real bullets in the magazine and continued to demand money while cussing and threatening the employee. It was at point that Joseph got rid of his weapon.
Joseph was remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center and charged with Robbery in the First Degree and Terroristic Threatening in the Second Degree.
