FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - A boating accident on Saturday, July 1, has left a Fairbanks man dead.

The incident took place at Harding Lake, where Alaska Wildlife Troopers responded to a report of a possible drowning.

Investigation revealed that a watercraft operated by 31-year-old Kevin Johnson was entangled with another boat’s tow line.

Life-saving efforts were performed by the other boat’s operator and an off-duty Emergency Medical Technician who was in the area.

However, after Johnson was transported to a Fairbanks hospital, he was pronounced dead.

Kevin was a valued member of the Fairbanks Fire Department, as a driver and paramedic, and will be missed greatly.

The incident is being investigated, and at this time, it does not appear to involve alcohol and drugs.
