FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) -Now that the days are longer and warmer, the time to get your fishing gear out and catch some fish is now. Here’s a brief look around the state to see where the fish are at.

Matanuska Valley - King salmon fishing is closed on the Little Susitna for the season.

Kenai River - Fishing has been slow but expect Sockeye salmon fishing to pick up in the next week. The Russian River is great but get there early to find a good spot.

Prince William Sound - Those looking to find that massive Halibut for the derby need to look farther out in areas like Montauk strait, Hinchinbrook entrance, and other passages.

Rivers and Lakes - Most river are low and clear, except the Tanana which is high and rising. Grayling are looking good right now for fishing also.
