FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) -Now that the days are longer and warmer, the time to get your fishing gear out and catch some fish is now. Here’s a brief look around the state to see where the fish are at.

Matanuska Valley - Sock eye, Pinks, Chum, and Coho looking great for dip netting and regular fishing.

Kenai River - The lower river’s quality is getting better, but still high. Rainbow trout fishing is slow, and so it salmon fishing, patience is key.

Prince William Sound - The Halibut season is hot right now. For those looking to get the bigger fish take a look around Perry Island with a chum bag.

Rivers and Lakes - Rains are effecting water clarity and should be clearing during the heat wave next week. Kings are on a no sports fishing order due to spawning.
