FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The days are getting shorter but staying warm, the time to get your fishing gear out and catch some fish is now and the day you can are dwindling down. Here’s a brief look around the state to see where the fish are at.

Matanuska Valley - The fish are jumping right now, Silver, Chum, Coho, Pinks, and Rainbow Trout look good.

Kenai River - Is hot right now for Pinks, Coho, and Reds. Most that are fishing are hitting the limit quickly over the past week.

Prince William Sound - The Valdez Silver Salmon Derby is on and is running until September third. There are daily prizes and a $10,000 grand prize for the best silver of the season a daily derby ticket is $10 and a season ticket is $50.

Rivers and Lakes - The Tanana River is bank full due to melting mountain glaciers and the recent rain is affecting water clarity. Kings and Chum salmon are on a no sports fishing order.
