FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The days are getting shorter but staying warm, the time to get your fishing gear out and catch some fish is now and the day you can are dwindling down. Here’s a brief look around the state to see where the fish are at.

Matanuska Valley - Bait fishing is scheduled to open on Little Susitna river on August  6. The opening day for bait fishing is one of the biggest coho salmon days of the year so expect a bit of a wait at the fishery.

Kenai River - The river is hot as a firecracker as Silvers are hopping right now and with time and patience, hitting the daily limit is possible

Prince William Sound - Just outside the main bay has been good for Kings and Silvers. If you’re looking for Pinks, drop your bait in by Applegate or Crafton and go trolling twenty to thirty feet of water.

Rivers and Lakes - Due to the heat wave, melted glacial water is filling the Tanana River and it is bank full and under a flood advisory so be careful for the those on the river.
