FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The municipal election in the Fairbanks North Star Borough is coming up on October 3, and in advance, early voting has begin in all races.

Candidates are seeking office on the Borough Assembly, the School Board, and the Interior Alaska Natural Gas Utility, as well as the city councils of Fairbanks and North Pole.

As of Monday, September 18, residents can cast their ballots at Shopper’s Forum in Fairbanks.

Early voting continues until Thursday, September 28.

During that time, voters may cast their ballots between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 24.

After September 28, the location will be used for absentee voting.

According to Borough Clerk April Trickey, early voting is “a matter of convenience for the voters. It gives the voters an opportunity, if they’re ready to vote, to come and cast their ballot now. You never know what’s going to happen on Election Day. You might get sick, emergencies happen... Your work schedule, your family schedule, all the different schedules, it might be hard for you to get to the polling place on Election Day, so if you’re ready to vote, come on down to the early vote station and cast your ballot.”
