FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Badger Road Transfer Site in the Fairbanks North Star Borough began seeing reduced hours of operation on Monday, October 2.

In June, the borough began closing the Farmers Loop East and West transfer sites at night due to problems with littering, loitering and other code violations.

Since then, two more transfer sites, including Badger Road, have been added to this group.

The Chena Pump and Badger Road sites will now also be closed from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. every night.

Chena Pump began closing for these hours on August 21.

Residents are asked to call Alaska State Troopers if they witness illegal activities like drug use and sale, vandalism and sex work at a transfer site.

There are 13 transfer sites in the borough.

The added two sites with limited hours makes four of the five major sites for which this protocol has been adopted, with North Pole still open 24/7.
