FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - Fairbanks FAST Planning’s 6th annual Winter Maintenance Forum is taking place on Tuesday, November 14, giving residents of Interior Alaska the opportunity to learn about how maintenance works during the long winter months.

Community members are invited to hear reports and ask questions.

Presenters include Parks and Recreation, the cities of Fairbanks and North Pole, and FAST Planning itself, which will discuss what being a Metropolitan Planning Organization means.

Attendees can participate in-person or virtually, with door prizes available at the event.

According to Olivia Lunsford, Transportation Planner for FAST Planning, people often don’t know who to call when they need winter maintenance on their roads. “I really just want people to get a better understanding of how winter maintenance in our community works, ways that these entities and agencies are working to make it better, and I just want people to know that we’re all on the same page when it comes to snow and living with snow and working with snow, and here’s what it looked like in years past, and here’s how we’re trying to move forward.”

The event runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with the in-person part taking place at the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitor’s Center.
