Federal judges insist SNAP must be funded
One in eight Americans use SNAP funds for groceries
WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - Two different federal judges ruled Friday after that SNAP, the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, must be funded.
SNAP payments have stalled and currently won’t go out on Saturday, November 1st, due to the federal government shutdown.
The judges; rulings came down moments apart, that the trump administration should continue to fund SNAP.

The White House insists that it cannot do that unless the federal government is reopened. However, the U-S-D-A does have an emergency fund - created to fund programs like SNAP.
The judges say those funds must be disbursed.
President Donald Trump continues to insist all the problems should be laid at the feet of the Democrats, speaking to reporters shortly after he landed in Florida to visit his estate at Mar-A-Lago.
“It’s their fault. Everything is their fault. It’s so easily solved, you know, we have a number of Democrats that have already voted for this.”
More than 40 million Americans use SNAP benefits. The majority are families with children or the elderly.
Food banks have warned, for every meal they supply through donations, food stamps provide nine meals.
It’s estimated it can take up to two weeks to get the food stamp electronic debit cards loaded with the funds.
By Monday, the two judges – one in Rhode Island and one in Massachusetts – want an update on the distribution of SNAP funds.
