DefSec Hegseth confirms “vengeance” for deaths of Iowa National Guard Members
WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - The US launching strikes in Syria, after two American soldiers were killed.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth calling it a “declaration of vengeance.”
US officials say multiple targets were hit in Syria on Friday, after an apparent ISIS attack that killed two American soldiers and an interpreter.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth taking to X saying this is not the beginning of war, it’s a declaration of vengeance.
Adding “The United States of America, under President Trump’s leadership, will never hesitate and never relent to defend our people.”
President Donald Trump confirmed the strikes, posting on social media “very serious retaliation, just as he had promised.”
The Pentagon estimating the retaliation campaign killed around 23 people. They say they also recovered devices and electronics.
ISIS has not yet claimed responsibility for that December 13th attack…that killed Sergeant William Nathaniel “Nate” Howard, and Sergeant Edgar Torres-Tovar, both with the Iowa National Guard.
President Trump paid witness to their service at the dignified transfer of their remains Wednesday at Dover Air Base.
Following the transfer, Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), who also has served in the Iowa National Guard, paid tribute to the two men and their interpreter, “These men are two of our nation’s finest. A true testament to the selfless bravery it takes to put on the uniform and keep our homeland safe from the threat of radical Islamic terror. They are also a reminder that our freedom is not free, and every American owes an enormous debt of gratitude to our servicemembers who put their lives on the line.”
An estimated 18 hundred Iowa National Guard Soldiers are currently deployed in the region, according to Governor Kim Reynolds.
