WASHINGTON (Gray DC) - Friday, President Donald Trump announced a major breakthrough that could lead to an end of the war with Iran. Seven weeks after the U.S. and Israel launched military strikes against Iran, there’s optimism that the war could soon be winding down.

Oil prices plunged on Friday after Iran’s Foreign Minister wrote on social media: “In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of ceasefire.”

Shortly afterward, President Trump posted on Truth Social that the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports would remain, saying it would stay in place until “OUR TRANSACTION WITH IRAN IS 100% COMPLETE.

In another post, President Trump said the U.S. would acquire Iran’s highly enriched uranium and that, “No money will exchange hands in any way, shape, or form.”

Later in the day the President told political news outlet, Axios, that U.S. and Iranian negotiators will probably meet this weekend, and he expects them to finalize a deal to end the war.

In further posts on social media, President Trump announced another promise, that Iran will never close the strait of Hormuz again, and that the narrow body of water will never be used as a weapon against the world again.

Late Friday, President Trump told reporters in Arizona, he didn’t think too many differences remain between the U.S. and Iran.

“We’ll see how it all turns out, but it should be good, some very good discussions, and hopefully that subject that you like to talk about will be very good. And we’ve done a good job, but we’ll see ... the talks are going on and going over the weekend, and a lot of good things are happening that includes Lebanon”

For now, it appears talks towards peace continue.
