Big changes have been made to high school hockey at the ASAA meeting in Kodiak. With special parameters, ASAA will now allow high school players to be both on high school teams and comp programs. They also announced that freshmen can now play for their high school teams.

West Valley Activities Coordinator, Wayne Sawchuk, made the proposal before the board to help raise interest in ice hockey. This new amendment could help preventing programs like West Valley and Lathrop from combining to not having another players. What was once a stance of either you were on a comp team or on a high school squad, could be changing before our very eyes for the sport of hockey.
