Bail denied to man accused of killing Sophie Sergie
The man accused of murdering Sophie Sergie was denied bail in a Maine Court Wednesday.
Steven Downs is charged with sexual assault and murder in the 1993 crime.
AP reports Downs' attorney James Howaniece as saying Downs "adamantly denies" any involvement in the crime and that he was with another woman on the night of the killing.
His next court appearance is expected to be later this spring.
Downs was caught after investigators used new DNA technology the identify DNA from the case that previously had no match.
We will continue to follow the case as it develops.
