The Chitina Sub-District Fishery announced on May 27 that the area will be open on June 7, 2020 for a 24-hour period.

"We manage the fishery based on the sonar count. The passage past the sonar that has occurred to date shows us that we are able to open the fishery for a 24-hour period and we can support that harvest." said Assistant Area Management Biologist Tracy Hansen.

The Copper River Personal Use Dip Net Salmon Fishery Management Plan and the Statewide Personal Use Fishing Regulations have regulations such as:

-Annual limit is 25 salmon for the head of the house, 10 for each dependent.

-Only one king per household.

-Steelhead can't be kept, and must be returned unharmed.

-You must record your harvest on the permit immediately.

Based on the sonar numbers, the fishery counted 13,688 salmon from May 18-24.
