The Fairbanks North Star Borough Solid Waste facility announces the closure of the Salcha Transfer Site located at 8121 Richardson Highway, beginning Tuesday, July 14th, through Tuesday, August 18th, 2020. Major improvements to the Salcha Transfer Site will take place during this time including pad expansion, improved access, new fencing, energy efficient lighting as well as three grade separated “roll off” areas and installation of recycled asphalt.

There are two preferred alternate transfer sites:

Moose Creek Transfer Site - 3485 Old Richardson Hwy. (Approximately 1/16 mile west of Hope Street intersection.) No bulky or brush disposal at this site.

*North Pole Transfer Site - 2740 Old Richardson Hwy. (Approximately 1/4 mile south of North Pole Hwy Blvd.) This site has grade separate “roll off” areas for bulky or brush disposal.

Electronic message boards will be placed along the Richardson Highway and at the entrance to the Salcha Transfer Site along with public notice in the Fairbanks Daily News Miner, on the borough website and on social media. The contractor for this project is HC Contractors, Inc. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this project, call the FNSB Public Works Department at 459-1345.
