Good News Bible and Book Store hosted a Fairbanks First Friday event on July 3rd, its first such event.

The venue hosted a book-signing by author Bruce Hamilton, whose fiction books “God of the Brooks” and “God of the Gold” are set in Alaska and feature aspects of the author’s experiences.

“It’s just really a fun, family thing to do,” Hamilton said of First Friday events. He is currently writing “God of the Aurora”, the third book in what is expected to be a trilogy.

Hamilton said he felt “honored to be a part of the First Friday event.”

Co-owner Debbie Seeger explained that to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the store was providing a hand-sanitizing station and encouraging social distancing.

She described the store as non-denominational and said, “We carry things for all Christ-based faiths.”

Seeger said she hoped people would come and have a good time.

“Even though the store has been in the town for over 35 years, we still have people that come in and say they never knew we were here. And we will welcome them to Fairbanks then, and they’ll tell us, 'Oh, we’ve been here for ten years,’ or, ‘We’ve been here for twenty years’ and they didn’t know we were here. So we want people to know that we’re here, and we’re here to serve them,” she said.
