A local power plant is celebrating four years and 206,000 man hours without lost time accidents.

Aurora Energy operates 24–hours a day, 7 days a week. The facility works to provide heat and electricity to the Fairbanks Community. Since the safety streak began in February of 2015, the power plant has had no work related accidents that require employees to take time off of work.

Despite challenging work conditions including heavy equipment, high pressure systems, boilers and electrical currents, employees have succeeded to find a system that keeps employees safe. Interim President Rob Brown say this is milestone for the company and for work place safety.

"We're celebrating four years of no lost time accidents at Aurora Energy, It's a hug milestone. We're extremely proud of crew for what we've hit today. We are very encouraged where we are at and we look forward to celebrating a fifth year of no loss time accidents this time next year," said Brown.
