Maine Governor signs warrant for Steven Downs Extradition
Maine Governor Janet Mills has signed a warrant allowing Steven Downs to be extradited to Alaska.
Downs is accused of sexually assaulting and murdering 20-year-old Sophie Sergie at the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1993.
According to the AP, Downs' attorney, James Howaniec, says they will likely challenge the governor's warrant to provide additional time for Downs to get his personal and legal affairs in order before his eventual extradition to Alaska.
Downs is next due in court May 20th.
