Alaska State Troopers have made an arrest in an incident that left one person dead on November 14th. At 3:30 Thursday, Troopers arrested 22-year-old Ryder Alan Smith of Fairbanks for Murder in the first degree in the death of 24-year-old Peter Horace-Wright.

According to troopers, they initially responded to a report of a shooting at a commercial property off of Peger Road, and found Horace-Wright deceased on scene. AST’s General Investigative Unit was assigned to investigate the incident.

Troopers said Smith had initially told them he acted in self-defense in shooting Horace-Wright, but according to investigator Malik Jones, an investigation lead them to believe those claims were false.

We will have more information on this story as it develops.
