No one injured in Salcha house fire Sunday morning

According to a press release from Salcha Fire and Rescue, they had the fire under control within 30 minutes.

On Sunday May 12, 2019 at about 11:30 AM Salcha Fire & Rescue responded to a house fire located at 5744 Crazy H Lane in Salcha. Fire fighters arrived 8 minutes after the dispatch to find an approximately 24’ x 36’ two story log house with a loft with heavy fire involvement.

Fire fighters made an aggressive attack on the fire and had the fire under control within 30 minutes. Due to partial collapse of the interior of the home, fire fighters remained on scene for about 2 ½ hrs removing debris to ensure the fire was out. 16 volunteer fire fighters responded from Salcha Fire & Rescue along with a mutual aid engine & four fire fighters from Eielson Fire Department. A water tanker from North Star Vol Fire Department and North Pole Fire Department responded.

Due to dry wildland conditions Fairbanks Forestry responded to check and monitor the wildlands around the fire scene. Red Cross responded to provide emergency assistance to the occupant.

The home is owned by Wesley & Jeneva Scarberry. Owners were out of town at the time of the fire and are aware of the fire. The home was occupied at the time of the fire by Michael Gregory.

No injuries were reported. Investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing. Loss is estimated at $180,000. Owners have insurance
