The Alaska Marijuana Control Board is expected to continue the debate on whether people should be allowed on–site pot consumption in authorized stores.

The board has been working on the concept since 2015 but abandoned their efforts last February, stating they had concerns about how the Trump administration might view marijuana.

However, on March 7th, in a 4 to 1 vote, the board agreed to reattempt to draft the onsite use rules.

The state's chief medical officer, Jay Butler, is pushing against the concept. He says on–site use of marijuana comes with health concerns like driver impairment and second hand smoke.
