PET OF THE WEEK: Meet Hubert the guinea pig
As the cold settles across Fairbanks, this furry friend is looking to warm your heart.
Here's what Kimberly Imbert, the Shelter Operations Supervisor had to tell us:
"Hi I am Kimberly and this is Hubert. He is a guinea pig who came to the shelter because his owner could no longer care for him,”
Hubert had some over grown teeth so he went to the vet for a teeth trimming and now he is as good as new and ready to go to his new home.
He is a guinea pig so he needs to eat mostly hay. That's how he will keep his teeth healthy in the future so he won't need to get teeth trimmings in the future if he has a good diet of hay and some pellets, and of course vitamin C.
Guinea pigs need vitamin C, clean cages, clean water and lots of cuddles because they are really friendly little creatures.
We have a lot of guinea pigs at the shelter for whatever reason, so we have a wide variety of personalities that are looking for loving homes. We also have dogs and cats looking for loving homes as well."
