PET OF THE WEEK: Meet Ted the guinea pig
This Ted won't give you any talks, just cute squeaks. Meet Ted in this edition of Pet of the Week.
"Hi my name is Sarah,” said Sarah Harman. “I am here and the Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter with our 'Pet of the Week.' This is the guinea pig Ted. He has been here since Jan. 13.
Here's the rest of Sarah's presentation:
"He is about two years old. Guinea pigs are very social creatures, they like to have a friend, so if you have a single guinea pig, single male guinea pig, he could be a good friend for him.
Guinea pigs require a lot of vitamin C in their diet so things like fresh peppers, oranges, dark leafy greens, are very important for them to have access to every day, as well as timothy hay and a little bit of special guinea pig pellets.
They can be very social creatures and like to be held and handled and be part of your family. They can also be can also be very talkative making lots of cute little squeaking noises. Ted is a little shy, he hasn't had a whole lot of handling, but with patience he does warm up to folks.
If Ted isn't the guinea pig for you we have several other guinea pigs available as well as several cats and lots and lots of dogs and two turtles. So if you need a new friend come on down to the shelter and find one."
