PET OF THE WEEK: Meet the Alaskan husky Bandit
This 10 month old pup is sure to steal your heart and make out like a... Bandit! That's his name, and being a good boy is his game! Meet this husky in News 13's Pet of the Week.
Here's what Kimberly Imbert, Animal Shelter Operations Supervisor with Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter, had to say:
"Hi I am Kimberly and this weeks 'Pet of the Week' is bandit. Bandit is a 10 month old husky mix puppy.
He came to the shelter because he needed to find a new home. He is supposed to do good with other dogs and all kinds of people. He has been really friendly while at the shelter. Just a typical puppy that's really curious and likes to play and he has a lot of energy. So he is hoping to find a really active home that has time for him. He will have lots of fur to shed around your house this spring, all that fun stuff.
We don't have any history if Bandit has lived with cats but he is really young. He is a breed that sometimes doesn't do the best with cats. So he should be introduced carefully and given time to, when supervised, adapt. But he is still young so he might still do well with cats if he is introduced appropriately.
With all dogs it's really good to have them meet each other on neutral ground if possible and slow introductions. Because, he will probably really, like want to play with other dogs in the home and [be] really excited about that. Slow introductions are good so he doesn't overwhelm his new housemates.
We have been really fortunate to have a lot of adoptions lately but we get animals in every day, a couple of them usually. We do adoptions by appointment, and we are really grateful that the community is supporting the shelter and bringing pets into their home during this time."
