PET OF THE WEEK: Meet the coffee colored husky named Mocha
Instead of your usual pick-me-up at the local coffee shop, why not come by the Fairbanks Animal Shelter and get yourself something that has a real spring in his step? Like Mocha! He may be a little older than most, but adopting this boy is guaranteed to give you the buzz you need! Meet Mocha in this edition of News 13's Pet of the Week.
Here's what Kimberly Imbert, Animal Shelter Operations Supervisor with Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter, had to say:
"Hi, I'm Kimberly and this weeks, 'Pet of the Week' is Mocha. Mocha is a 11 year old Alaska husky mix. He was brought to the shelter because his owners didn't have enough time for him.
In his older age he is getting some separation anxiety. Mocha doesn't do well kenneled or chained. He is looking for a family that is home a lot basically. He is more of a less is more kind of a guy. So he doesn't want so much restraint. So once he is adjusted to a home where hopefully people are home a lot, he could hopefully be left in an area instead of a kennel for unattended periods of time.
Mocha does well with other dogs and children so he is a really sociable guy and he would do really well in a family environment as long as people are home a lot.
Mocha is house broken and he is still really active even though he is 11 years old. So he would be a great companion for someone who enjoys going on walks and being outdoors. But he is a house dog and he is really hoping to find a loving family.
Mocha has a lot of other dogs and some cats at the shelter looking for homes as well."
