PET OF THE WEEK: Meet this shy husky named Bjork
Now for this segment, we promised fewer dog puns...but fur-get it! Today, we meet a cute mixed pup who holds the name of a world-renowned musical artist! She's just a little shy.
Meet Bjork in this edition of Pet of the Week.
Here's what Sarah Harman, animal tender with Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter, had to say:
"Hi my name is Sarah. I am here at the Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter with our 'Pet of the Week.' Her name is Bjork, [and] she is a year and a month old Alaskan husky. She is pretty timid at first, but once she warms up to you she is very friendly and energetic.
She came to us because her first owner passed away, and then her rescue owner just didn't have time for her with her friend.
Bjork seems to get along well with other dogs, she has a couple friends here that she likes to play with. She is mushing trained although doesn't have a whole lot of experience and could do well with a recreational team or experienced team that could show her the ropes the rest of the way.
To become a house dog she would need a lot of obedience training and a very active family to wear her out. A tired husky is a well behaved husky.
Like most Alaskan huskies she has a high prey drive and we recommend that she does not go to a house that has cats or other small animals, but she does seem to do well around children.
Bjork is a very sweet little dog.
If Bjork is not the one for you we have lots of other great animals available. Lots of dogs, a couple cats, and a few other small animals. Check out pet harbor and see what we have available."
