Pictures with Santa: Where to meet the big man in red this Holiday Season
Filled with joy and goodwill, Santa Claus brings magic with him when meeting all of the good children in the Interior, and during the holidays, it's the perfect time to witness this magic.
It's the busiest time of the year for not only for the residents of the Interior but the holiday season can be quite hectic for the big man in red.
One of Santa's jobs - aside from his duties on Christmas night - is meeting all the little good boys and girls to get their holiday wishes and take a photo with those he meets.
He even sits down, to meet all of our four legged friends.
The Animal Shelter Fund hosts Santa so he can see all of the cats, dogs and other pets in Fairbanks and North Pole. Christel Emery photographs Santa with pets that come to get their picture taken with him. With a little magic, Santa also helps other pets get adopted as well, through the Animal Shelter Fund.
"We really enjoy doing it because a lot of times we get to see animals that have been adopted before. Just recently we had a cat that had a broken leg, the shelter fund helped pay to get pins in his leg, he just got adopted and he's doing really well,” she said.
Santa also visits the Bentley Mall to take pictures with kids, but the most popular place to meet Santa is at his home in North Pole - the Santa Claus House.
Santa's Helper and Operations Manager at the Santa Claus House, Paul Brown said, the earlier you come in to see Santa, the better.
“We recommend that people come early in the day, as early as possible. We understand that's not always possible with school but the earlier in the day, the better off you are and then the earlier in the holiday season you can get here, as you can imagine the closer we get to Christmas the crazier it gets. We will get to a point, the last week of December leading up to Christmas we'll have a couple hour wait,” he said.
Father Christmas also shared his experience, when meeting children, "Talking to the children is really a great joy. Sometimes they're really bashful, don't want to come up and talk. Sometimes they're just so enthusiastic that when they see me they just come running but listening to what they want and figuring out how to help them is just amazing,” he said.
If you want to get your picture taken with Santa, here are different times and events to meet the jolly fellow:
Santa will be at the Bentley Mall every weekend until Christmas from 2 to 5 p.m.
At the Santa Claus House in North Pole, you can meet Santa every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
For Pet photos with Santa, there is only one more opportunity to get a picture of your fur baby with Santa and that is Saturday 12/8 starting at 10 a.m. and Sunday 12/9 starting at noon.
You can also take a train ride at Pioneer Park with Santa, Mrs. Claus, their elves and the Grinch and listening to a story as the train travels around the park. There will also be a time after the train ride where kids can enjoy cookies, hot cocoa and Christmas crafts. This will take place on Fridays and Saturdays throughout December 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
