Project Manager for Salcha-Badger Road Area Plan Speaks at Chamber Luncheon
Local business members gathered at the Carlson Center for their weekly luncheon this afternoon.
The speaker this week was Shelly Wade, Project Manager for the Salcha-Badger Road Area Plan.
In the next few years population around North Pole is expected to increase by over 3,000 due to the F35 program.
The Area Plan seeks to prepare community leaders, business owners, and residents for the change... and protect what they love about the area.
Over the last year, planners have been working with the community and the Department of Defense to produce the document.
They recently released their 'Draft Executive Summary,' which can be found online at
According to Wade the current plan is decades old, and this is the way to update it.
"So this is really the communities opportunity to say, these are the things we want to protect and preserve and what we value most about this area, this area plan is the tool for doing that," Wade said.
