This weekend marks the deadline to register for the upcoming municipal election.

September 1st is the last day for anyone wanting to vote in the election on October 1st to register and update their registration.

In-person absentee ballot voting starts on Monday September 16th in the borough office from 8 to 5 p.m. and there is still time to request an absentee ballot to come by mail or to use electronically.

Borough Clerk, April Trickey says it's important to check your registration to make sure you are able to vote in this municipal election.

"If you register to vote anywhere in the state of Alaska and you're currently residing in Fairbanks, you need to be registered within the Fairbanks North Star Borough to vote in the borough election. So, if you moved six months ago and you haven't updated your registration, then this is the time to go in and update your registration, so that you will be able to vote in this election," said Trickey.
