Shakespeare in nature starts tonight
The days are long- the temperatures are warm, and the immortal Bard is alive and well in Fairbanks.
The Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre's summer production of the 'Merry Wives of Windsor' opens tonight.
Jack Townsend Point, on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus, is the outdoor venue for Shakespeare's comedy.
Managing Director of the Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre, Carey Seward, says the outdoor atmosphere only adds to the experience of this seasonal live theater.
"It could definitely rain anytime, because we're not covered, but often the weather makes magical moments of the play. You know, outdoor Shakespeare is a long tradition in the U-S, and the reason it is, is because it is kind of experience you can't turn away from, you can't avoid reality in the real weather," said Carey Seward.
