Summer Concert Series brings Kellie Pickler and Waka Flocka Flame to the interior
Country singer Kellie Pickler, and rap artist Waka Flocka Flame, took the stage at this year's 'Summer Concert Series' over the weekend, providing a free night of entertainment for the interior's service members and their families.
The event was hosted by Fort Wainwright's 'Morale, Welfare and Recreation network.
Hundreds gathered to see Pickler and Flocka play with a few lucky fans getting to meet them in person.
For many Pickler and Flocka fans, meeting these musicians is something they've been waiting years to do.
Denisha Mcgee has been a Waka Flocka Flame fan ever since the early 2000s.
“Oh my god I'm so excited. I'm going to cry. I'm going to faint. I'm going to die, come back to life, and then I'm going to die a second time and then I'll be fine. I've been waiting for this since 2005," she said.
Pickler also has some longtime fans, including Marcia Ertle.
“I actually voted for her on American Idol so it's kind of cool to see her here,” she said.
Pickler and Flocka also performed at Fort Greely near Delta Junction for part two of this year's Summer Concert Series, in addition to their shows at Fort Wainwright.
