University employee confirmed as one of 2 cases of coronavirus in Fairbanks
In an email sent out to students and staff today, Chancellor Dan White confirmed that one of the cases of coronavirus that was discussed at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital yesterday was a University of Alaska Fairbanks employee.
He stated in the email that the employee worked in the O’Neill building and that all employees who work in that building are being asked to self-monitor at home for the next 14 days. He went on to add that during those 14 days the building will be closed and sanitized for reoccupation.
“Please keep in mind that the affected individual and their family are in a difficult position and entitled to privacy. It is my understanding that if you had contact with the individual, you may have already been contacted by public health officials with specific instructions”, said White.
