The Yukon Quest is heating up with veterans holding strong in the top five except for one rookie, who is barreling ahead to overtake some high profile names.
As of four P.M. today, here are the top five mushers on the leader-board.
In first is Allen Moore.
Moore was the first mushers to make it to the mandatory checkpoint at Eagle, as the two-time champion will look for his third title.
Moore had a pretty big lead, but joining at Eagle is Paige Drobny who sits at second.
Drobny closed the gap while Moore was forced to rest at the stop.
In third is Matt Hall.
The defending Yukon Quest champion is looking to make his move after Eagle, as he is 11 miles away from the big stop.
Hall has been battling it out with the musher behind him on many occasions this year.
In fourth is Laura Neese.
The Minnesota native is only behind Hall by five miles, as she is looking to make her best showing in the Yukon Quest.
And in fifth is a rookie.
Vebjorn Reitan is currently sitting in fifth after blazing past Ed Hopkins and Hugh Neff.
Reitan seemingly sat back for a bit and then shot out like a cannon to make his move to fifth.
