The 2018 Yukon Quest got started today by the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitor's Center.

Thousands of spectators lined up on the starting line onto the Chena River to watch this year's competitors embark on the thousand mile journey.

Though the race started just before noon, there have already been some major changes to the leaderboard.

The Mushers are just outside of the Two Rivers Checkpoint and Hugh Neff, who was the ninth musher out of the chute this year, has jumped out to first place.

Bib #6 Jason Campeau has moved up into the #2 spot while Laura Neese has moved up to Number 3.

Rookie Nathaniel Hamlyn is currently in fourth place while Ed Hopkins will round out our top five for right now.

Keep in mind that the race has just started, so all of our mushers are very close to eachother and these standings can change at any minute.

We will keep you updated daily until the 2018 Yukon Quest comes to an end.
