Division 2 and Girls State Wrestling Championship results
The Division 2 and Girls State Wrestling Championships finished up over the weekend in Anchorage.
Mt. Edgecumbe took home the team title in the girls tournament, but several of our Interior grapplers brought home State Titles.
We'll start with defending champion from North Pole Elizabeth Schumaker, who won the 119 pound weight class.
That makes two consecutive State championships for the North Pole Sophomore.
Our other two State champions in the girls tournament were both representing the Eielson Ravens.
Jolie Lucas was able to take the 103 pound state championship, improving on her second place finish in state a year ago.
The other Eielson Wrestler to earn a state crown was Debranna Bealer, who took home the 235 pound title.
Looking at top three finishes across the board, Nailah Bealer earned a second place finish for Eielson in the 145 pound weight class.
Janice Dykes and Megan Parrish both earned third place finishes for North Pole, Dykes in the 130 and Parrish in the 189.
And the top finisher for the Lathrop Malemutes, who earned a third place overall finish was Autumn Poland, who took third in the 112 pound weight class.
In the Boy's Division 2 tournament, Homer took home the state title with a 180 point score while Glennallen took second with 157 and Bethel finished third with 156.
