The Valdez fishing derbies have announced their weekly winners for August 6th through the 12th.

Last week caused a major shakeup in the leaderboard as Frieda Wiley from Valdez became the top overall leader in the Halibut derby.

Wiley reeled in a 374 pound Halibut on August 6th.

Two days later, Grant Stultz pulled up a 182.2 pounder to take second place for the week and third place in the overall Halibut Derby.

Fairbanks' own Tim Stadtmiller is still in second place in the overall derby with the 266 pounder that he reeled in on June 19th.

All of the top Halibut were caught on the same boat, the Dan Orion.

The overall standings in the Silver Salmon Derby were also released.

Cole Baxter from Fayetteville Georgia is still in the lead with his 15.62 pound Silver that he caught on July 26th.

Valdez' own Chinda Heston is in second place with her 14.88 pounder that she caught on August 12th.

That fish also gave her the top prize in the Women's Silver Salmon Derby that took place this Saturday.

Second place went to Fairbanks' Kristina Bragg with a 14.58 pound Silver and Sandra Virgues took third with a 13.44 pounder.

There were 595 women registered for the derby and close to 500 women weighed in their fish for a chance to win.

Time is running out to get involved with the Derbies as the Halibut and Silver Salmon derbies both come to an end on September 3rd.
