Ice Dogs hockey plans to stream end-of-season festivities online
The Fairbanks Ice Dogs season may be over, but the orginization is gearing up for their end of season festivities through online means. The season ended abruptly on March 16, due to concerns over COVID-19.
"I just hope everyone stays safe and continues to follow the parameters that are in place," said Fairbanks Ice Dogs General Manager Rob Proffitt. "They're not fun for anybody right now but I think we're going to come out of this at some point in the near future. As you know, [with] Fairbanks being a special community, we're going to come out stronger than we came in. I look forward to doing our part in the community as far as the Ice Dogs go."
With their raffle and Military Appreciation apparel, the Ice Dogs will be streaming their end of season events on their Facebook page.
"[We'll] keep to the raffle, and three hundred people bought $100 tickets. We're going to give away $14,000 in cash 3 p.m. Sunday on Facebook. [It's the] Fairbanks Ice Dogs Facebook page, [and] it'll be a Facebook live event," said Proffitt. "As you know we missed our Military Appreciation when they cancelled this all, and want to say thank you to all those who have served and are serving."
The Ice Dogs Facebook stream is on Sunday, March 29 at 3:00 P.M. while the Military Appreciation apparel will be available starting March 30 through April 6.
