The Mid Alaska Conference Wrestling Championships were held over the weekend at North Pole High School.

The defending state champion Lathrop Malemutes punched the most tickets to state thanks to region championship wins from Jeremy Bockert in the 103 pound weight class, Roberto Lechuga Porras in the 112, Garrett Bourne in the 119, and William Poland in the 130.

Kobe Ames also won the 140 pound class while Sage Martin took the 171 for the Malemutes.

Two Lathrop grapplers won their weight classes in matchups against teammates.

Josiah Opp defeated Isaiah Sherwood in the 152 and Andrue Shepersky defeated his cousin Nate Kisgen in the 160.

For our other two MAC schools, Bradley Antesberger and Jacob Blanchard won their weight classes for North Pole, taking the 189 and 215 pound classes respectively.

Antesberger, who hasn't lost a match since his Sophomore year, will be looking to repeat as state champion.

West Valley also crowned a pair of Conference Champions with Isaac Coon winning the 145 pound class and Shaun Conwell taking the 285.

Our other wrestlers were in Su-Valley for their tournament.

We're not going to have enough time tonight, but we'll have full results from the Denali Conference and Girls Region 6 tournaments tomorrow.
