Soccer roundup: Hutch boys earn first win of the year; North Pole and Monroe tie
Four Mid Alaska Conference teams converged on the Turf Fields for a pair of Soccer matchups last night.
First up, the Hutchison Hawks defeated Eielson 6-1.
This was the first win of the year for Hutch, who had tied Eielson earlier in the year.
Andre Williams and Dylan Maltos led the scoring efforts for Hutchison, both finished the day with two goals.
The lone Eielson score of the night was provided by Colin Wilder.
The next game of the night saw a tie between the Monroe Catholic Rams and North Pole Patriots.
These two MAC Front-runners fought to a 3-3 tie.
The Rams built a 3-1 lead after the first half but the Patriots were able to fight back and force the tie, capped off by a Daniel Crutcher Free Kick in the final minutes.
Nathan Walsh led Monroe Catholic with two goals.
The Rams are 6-0-1 on the year while North Pole is 5-1-1 in Conference play.
These two teams will meet again next week with a state championship appearance on the line.
If Monroe wins they will secure a D-2 Tournament berth, but North Pole can take that spot if they win by three goals.
