Week 11 of the Valdez Halibut Derby was a bit of a down week as the two heaviest fish were both under 100 pounds.

The Runner up for July 29th through August 4th was Martin Mykkanen from Andough Minnesota.

He caught an 87 pounder on the Halibut Grove on July 30th.

That proved to be a lucky day as the week's top fish was also caught on the 30th.

Wasilla's Kyle Lucey won the week with a 95 pound Halibut that he caught on the Jaime Lynn.

The overall leaderboard remains the same as we currently go through week 12.

Fairbanks' Russel Young is in third place with the 226 pounder he caught on the Dan Orion on June 23rd.

Another Alaskan, Valdez' Doug Cranor, is in second place with a 239 pound fish that he caught on the Redhead on June 23rd.

And Patricia Johnson still has the top overall fish in this year's competition.

The Clovis California Angler brought in a 285 pound Flatfish on July 26th on the Harvester.

The Silver Salmon Derby saw two brand new faces take over the top two overall spots.

Darlene Juve from Decorah Iowa has been moved down to third place with the 14.98 pound Salmon that she caught on the Orion on July 24th.

Tom Karlsten from St. Cloud Florida is in second place with a 16.40 pounder which he caught on the Long Shot on August 4th.

Anchorage's Daniel Schneider also caught his fish on the fourth, but his was a bit bigger.

He reeled in a 16.64 pounder on the Sea Duck to take over the top overall spot.

Both Derbis are set to run through September 2nd.

Whoever has the largest fish will bring home the $10,000 cash grand prize.

Second place will win 3,000 and third will take home 15 hundred.

This weekend will also see the Women's Silver Salmon Derby in Valdez. The one day event will take place on August 11th from 9am to 6pm.
