Valdez Fishing Derby final results

The Valdez Fishing Derby came to an end this weekend.

The final week of the Halibut Derby saw George Brewer from Las Vegas take first with a 92 pounder and Kansas' Tim Cooper took second place for the week with a 75 pounder.

In the overall Derby Standings, Omaha Nebraska's Brett Fickler finished in third place with a 197 pound Halibut and brought home $2,000.

Fairbanks' Tim Stadtmiller took second place with a 266-pounder and earned $5,000.

Valdez's own Freida Wiley not only won the Halibut Derby with her 374 pound Monster, but she also set a record.

That Halibut is the Largest Fish to ever be caught in the Valdez Halibut Derby.

Freida definitely earned her $15,000 grand prize.

In the Silver Salmon Derby Randy Arndt from Wasilla Took third place and brought home $2,000 with his 14.98 pound Salmon, Homer Huffman from Valdez won $5,000 with a 15.10 pounder, and Fayetteville Georgia's own Cole Baxter brought home $15,000 with a 15.62 pound Salmon.

This year was the first time since 1971 that a Salmon weighing less than 16 pounds won the derby.
